Jasmine began her career with CHARLES & KEITH in 2019. Fuelled by her passion for fashion, she joined the MA programme with SGIS and has progressed from a Retail Staff in the Retail and Ops team to her current role as a Management Associate in the Marketing Team. Read on to find out more about her journey and life at CKG. 

BEGINNING THE JOURNEY​

When she joined CHARLES & KEITH, Jasmine was placed under the Retail Operations track and got her first role as a retail staff. This was where she got to experience the ins and out of operations. Working as a frontline staff helped her gain a better understanding and perspective of the operations and was also where she formed friendships with the retail team being placed in different stores around Singapore.

Each day was new experience and I loved how we had fun events that helped me bond with my colleagues in the retail team!

When Covid-19 hit, the restrictions led to a restructuring of manpower in the teams and this turned out to be a silver lining for Jasmine because it opened an avenue that changed the course of her career.

“When I was asked if I was keen to join the Marketing team, I immediately took up the opportunity as it was the path I had always envisioned myself to take in my career.  Having experienced what it was like as a retail staff – who are the real hands and mouthpiece that execute the marketing efforts – gave me a complete well-rounded picture and has become a pivotal tool in how I make my decisions contributing in the Marketing team.” 

Marketing is extremely dynamic as every launch and campaign is different so the things I do every day are very different, there isn’t any day which I have repeated the same thing as the day before. I would say this is my favourite part – constantly learning and doing something new! Usually, the timing of many launches, campaigns or activations may overlap so there can be many things happening at a time. To me, this could be the most challenging part of the job but this has also taught me how to manage my time better.   

For students considering to apply for a scholarship at CHARLES & KEITH, one advice Jasmine gives is – don’t be afraid to give it a try, it has been a fulfilling journey for me and it would be for you too!
